Good Morning Tappan Students, Parents, and Caretakers:
Welcome to your weekly ELA update. Please see below for weekly objectives and assignments. Weather reminder: As the weather continues to get colder (and warmer and colder again) please remind your child that it is important to dress appropriately to stay warm. If a student decides to wear winter boots and there is no space in their locker I have a spot in my classroom where they can be stored for the day. Also, all winter jackets need to be stored in lockers and not worn to class. Please have your child wear a sweater, fleece, or sweatshirt if they get cold during the day. Hoods and hats are not permitted in class. February Office Hours: Office Hours will change in the New Year. I will be available on Mondays after school until 4:00 p.m. If a student takes the late bus home they will be escorted down to Homework Club to continue working until 4:30. I can determine if a source is credible and accurate when I gather new information from books or technology I can quote or paraphrase from print and digital sources without plagiarizing I can correctly cite sources within or at the end of my writing. Planner Checks--Encourage your child to stay as up to date as possible on their research projects. They have deadlines each day this week. Students have a project timeline in their research project packets. Please check planner for updates as this can change depending on what is accomplished each day in class. Homework will be assigned based on what is not completed in class. February 17, 2020 Monday 17: Complete typed draft of research essay Tuesday 18: Peer Edits Wednesday 19: Final revisions, submit for grade Thursday 20: Create one pager on computer highlighting research Friday 21: finish and print research one pager All students have a research packet with the timeline of due dates for this project. Encourage your child to check in with Mrs. Lee daily. This will ensure that students do not get behind on the project.
