Good morning,
Link to new podcast on today's assignment Now that we have taken on the classic poem of Annabel Lee, I would like to put your understanding of its form to the test. Your task is to rewrite this poem. Look at the first two stanzas of the poem and think of what story you can tell. I took the first two stanzas and wrote a story of our classroom. You do not have to use the same rhyme that the author does in this poem. You do however need to stick with the same rhyme pattern of (a,b,a,c,d,c). Give it a try! Must do: Write 2-3 stanzas May do: Rewrite the entire poem Topic: The original topic of the poem focuses on love. The love between the speaker and Annabel Lee. You can choose to right a poem about any love you like. The love of tacos on Tuesdays, the love of school, the love of shopping, the love of video games, the love of shoes, the love of soccer, and so on. YOUR CHOICE! Original: It was many and many a year ago, In a kingdom by the sea, That a maiden there lived whom you may know By the name of Annabel Lee; And this maiden she lived with no other thought Than to love and be loved by me. I was a child and she was a child, In this kingdom by the sea, But we loved with a love that was more than love-- I and my Annabel Lee-- With a love that the wingèd seraphs of Heaven Coveted her and me. Mrs. Lee’s Mentor It was several a days ago In the classroom by the tree That we said goodbye to our chairs and desks And of course to the unicorn Mrs. Lee And this was a teacher of Language arts Who told silly mom jokes just for me We’ve been out of the classroom For what seems like forever to me But we studied and read and analyzed Poems I and the unicorn Lee With a work ethic that was strong like a poem In the classroom by the tree Your Turn Stanza 1 Line 1: Line 2: Line 3: Line 4: Line 5: Line 6: Stanza 2 Line 1: Line 2: Line 3: Line 4: Line 5: Line 6:
