8th Grade ELA
Hello Smart Humans! Thank you for all of your care and support over this unique time. Below is information that relates to our English Language Arts class. All work completed out of school will be reviewed and discussed once we return to the classroom. Below is information on assignments that we have started to work on in class. Copies of each assignment are also located on the RESOURCES tab of my website. A few thoughts about ELA starting March 13, 2020—these assignments were not created with the intention of being completed in one day. Spread the love and choose when to read, write, work, and relax. Check our class website for updates under the 8th Grade ELA tab and RESOURCES tab 1. Read! Read every day and use your reading log to keep track of your thoughts on your novel. 2. NEW: Complete your poetry analysis for Annabel Lee and Sonnet #18: We are in the middle or two classic poetry moments. "Annabel Lee" and Shakespeare's Sonnets. I have provided print copies of each for you to use while we are out of the classroom. There are also copies of located on the resources tab and I will be posting lesson videos. Check your AAPS email for updated links. A blog post will be added on Monday, March 16th for Annabel Lee. I will discuss poetic devices, deeper meaning, and recreating the poem. Sonnets will be discussed later in the week. Do Not Complete the Following YET: Sonnets #29 and 130 Writing an original sonnet Rewriting Annabel Lee 5. Poetry will live forever!!!! (name the poetic devices used) We have more poems to analyze and understand. Once we are done analyzing, we will begin writing forms of each poem. WAIT FOR INSTRUCTIONS. 6. Be kind to each other. 7. Help around the house. 8. READ, WRITE, LISTEN, CREATE A PODCAST, BE CREATIVE, GET FRESH AIR, BE AWESOME!
